I. Trong tiếng Anh, có rất nhiều động từ được theo sau bởi V-ing: S + V1 + V2-ing.

Các động từ/cụm từ (V1) mà động từ sau nó ở dạng V-ing (V2) thường gặp là:

E.g.:

• Neil denies breaking the window. (Neil phủ nhận việc phá vỡ cửa sổ.)
• I can't stand working with him. (Tôi không thể chịu đựng được việc phải làm việc cùng anh ta.)

My grandmother is used to ______ up early in the morning.

The girl students enjoy _______ English songs.

II. Nếu chủ ngữ thụ hưởng động từ thứ hai (dạng bị động), thì cấu trúc của cụm động từ là: S + V1 + being V2(pp). 

E.g.: The baby loves being carried about by his mom. (Thằng bé thích được (mẹ) bế đi lòng vòng.)

Dạng cấu trúc này thường gặp trong các đề thi THPT QG hơn cấu trúc căn bản được nhắc đến trong phần I.

Các động từ (V2) theo sau một số động từ (V1) khác (xem phần I ) có thể được viết như sau:

- dạng chủ động: S + V1 + V2-ing

- dạng bị động: S + V1 + being + V2(pp)
