Using too   water or not fixing dripping taps also contributes to the problem. Most people do not realize that saving energy in the home will actually save them money. If people use less energy, gas and electricity bills will become lower. Most of the ways we can use to decrease energy consumption in the home are very useful, or simple. The most obvious one is turning off household appliances when they are not use.

In 1620, about 150 European people, usually called Pilgrims today, moved to North America. Arriving at the beginning of a very hard winter, they could not find enough food to eat, so many of them died. However, Native Americans helped them to save food for the next winter. Therefore, they held a big celebration - "Thanksgiving" - to thank the Native Americans and worship God. Today, Thanksgiving is nationally celebrated in the U.S on the fourth Thursday in November to remember these early days.

The most important part of the celebration is a traditional dinner. The meal includes turkey filled with stuffing, sweet potatoes, and cranberries. Many families have their own special way of cooking.

On Thanksgiving, there are special TV programs and sports events. In New York, there is the Macy's Parade - a long line of people march through the streets with large balloons in the shape of imaginary characters.
