It was very windy when the girls started playing. "I'm sure that a storm is coming," Katy said, but Helen didn't mind. She was very pleased with her new ball and didn't want to stop. Then, Katy hit the ball really hard and a strong wind carried it to the top of a tree!

"I'll go and fetch it!" Helen said. She started climbing up the tree and Katy watched from below. The tree was tall, so Katy was worried. "Be careful, Helen!" she said. Then, when Helen was close to the ball, the wind got very strong. Now, Helen was too afraid to climb down!

Helen's parents weren't home, so Katy called the fire station for help. Half an hour later, a fire engine arrived and a firefighter carried Helen down. "You're lucky you didn't fall," the firefighter said. Months later, when the autumn came, the ball fell down, but Helen will never climb up that tree again!
