Rác thải nhựa (bao bì, ống hút, vỏ chai… bằng nhựa) đang là một hiểm họa gây ô nhiễm môi trường sống trên Trái Đất. Khi thải ra môi trường, chất thải nhựa chỉ bị phân hủy sau vài trăm năm. Chỉ riêng với vỏ chai nhựa, toàn thế giới đang sử dụng và thải bỏ ra môi trường khoảng một triệu vỏ chai trong mỗi phút. Khối lượng rác thải nhựa tồn tại trong các đại dương hiện nay bằng 20% khối lượng cá đang sinh sống trong đó và sẽ vượt hơn cả khối lượng cá trong vài chục năm tới. Hệ sinh thái toàn cầu và sự sống của nhiều loài sinh vật trên Trái Đất đang bị đe dọa bởi rác thải nhựa. Với hàng triệu tấn rác thải nhựa đang đổ ra biển mỗi năm, Việt Nam là một trong những nước thải rác nhựa nhiều nhất thế giới.
Nhiều biện pháp đang được chính phủ và một số tổ chức xã hội tại các nước trên thế giới đưa ra để ngăn chặn hiểm họa này, như: hạn chế và giảm bớt sử dụng sản phẩm nhựa; sử dụng lại các bao bì nhựa nhiều lần; thu gom các sản phẩm nhựa đã sử dụng để tái chế, không thải bỏ ra môi trường sống; thay thế vật liệu nhựa bằng các vật liệu khác dễ phân hủy, ít gây ô nhiễm môi trường…
a) Các nhà khoa học đã đề ra một phương châm đối với việc sử dụng sản phẩm nhựa và gọi tắt bằng tiếng Anh phương châm này là 3R.

b) A travel agency often receives emails from local and foreign customers. Some sent their emails on March 2nd and some on February 3rd.
The confusion happened when the travel agents read the contracted forms of the dates 2/3 or 3/2, they were confused because they were not certain that the date was March 2nd or February 3rd. However, when dates are written as 3/15 or 15/3, they will understand that it is March 15th because there are only 12 months in a year.
